SFVE-A program
The SFVE-A program (Svensk Fransk Vetenskap–Anslag) aims at promoting scientific and academic cooperations between France and Sweden by giving researchers established in a Swedish or a French institution (e.g. university, research laboratory, etc.) the opportunity to participate in a mobility program between both countries in 2025.
The thematic priorities of the program are those connected to the renewed strategic partnership between Sweden and France signed by Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and President Emmanuel Macron on January 30, 2024. Other fields are also eligible for application. In addition, please note that at least two grants will be awarded to projects in the humanities and social sciences, and related to culture.
The call for applications is open until November 11, 2024,
for mobilities taking place between January 20, 2025 and November 30, 2025.

Who can apply:
The SFVE-A program is open to researchers affiliated to a French or Swedish institution, without nationality requirement. This program is intended for PhD students and researchers with a PhD in order to:
- Organize a scientific workshop in France or Sweden in order to prepare large-scale projects (bilateral, regional or European).
- Carry out an academic or scientific visit in France or Sweden.
We encourage PhD students taking advantage of this program to apply for the “European doctorate” label.
When: (provisional timetable)
- October 1, 2024: opening of the call for projects
- November 11, 2024: call for applications closed
- Late November, 2024: notification of laureates
- Mobilities can start from January 20, 2025
A second call for applications will be launched in May 2025 for mobilities taking place after July 2025.
Note: it is possible to apply for this first call even if your mobility is planned for the second half of 2025.
About the grant:
- The grant is calculated on a project-by-project basis.
- The grant is a contribution to travel and accommodation expenses. The maximum amount of the grant is 15 000 SEK.
- A partial advance on the grant may be given. The rest of the grant is paid upon fulfilment of the mobility’s report, as explained in the “Requirements” below.
- The grant is awarded for the 2025 calendar year.
Selection procedure:
Applications will be evaluated by a jury set up by the Institut français in Sweden that will take into account the scientific quality of the project, the implications for the French-Swedish cooperation and the individual scientific record of the applicant. Projects that haven’t previously received support from the Institut français in Sweden will have priority.
Projects linked to the strategic innovation partnership will be given priority. The declaration between France and Sweden on a renewed Strategic Innovation Partnerhip Partnership for Sustainable, Digital and Resilient Societies can be found HERE.
At least two grants will be awarded to projects in the humanities and social sciences, and related to culture.
The French Embassy and the Institut français in Sweden support equal opportunities and the jury will strive to attain parity in the list of supported researchers.
For information only, approximately 15 projects will be selected through these two calls for projects

Applicants must complete before November 11, 2025 at 23:59 an online form available here and upload:
