Iceland

The French Embassy is responsible for developing scientific collaboration between France and Iceland.

To do this, the cooperation and cultural action service (SCAC) notably manages the PHC program (Hubert Curien Program) “Jules Verne”, financed equally with the Icelandic Government (Rannis). This biennial programme encourages the cross-mobility of young French and Icelandic researchers. Its objective is to facilitate and develop high-level scientific and technological cooperation between research teams from the two countries and to facilitate their integration into European programmes. The resources granted by the two countries are intended to provide additional assistance to the research teams. This aid is dedicated to supporting the mobility of researchers, with each country ensuring the payment of subsistence allowances and travel for its researchers.

Since its creation in 2004, the PHC Jules Verne has enabled the mobility of more than a hundred researchers between France and Iceland.
